A Chester County man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Lancaster County Thursday night, according to the coroner's office. The man was attending a show at the American Music Theatre on Lincoln Highway East/Route 30 in East Lampeter Township around 10 p.m. "We're deeply saddened by any tragic loss of life in our community; even more so to learn it was a patron who had so recently been enjoying a show with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with the gentleman's loved ones," a statement from the theatre said. The coroner identified the man as 63-year-old James Norris of Downingtown, Pa. The cause and manner of his death remain under investigation, according to the coroner's report.People who walk and live along the highway are not surprised to hear what happened because the roadway is extremely dangerous for pedestrians. "When I first moved out here, they didn't have any light. They only had one lane going and coming. It was bad then, " Jonathan Smalls said.Smalls said it's only gotten worse from the cars on the road to the people."They push them by, and they wait for the light to change, they wait for the traffic to stop. And then they will cross the street," Smalls said. "I'm one of them. You know, if I see nobody's coming, I go and cut across because the lights take forever," Scott More said. The coroner's report says Norris was found in the roadway but doesn't specify he was crossing. "People need to be more conscientious of where they're driving, you know, and aware of their situations. You know, if there is a speed limit at 30, go 30. Don't be speeding," More said. "I figured this person was probably going too fast by the time he compacted him," Smalls said. The Lancaster County coroner scheduled an autopsy for Norris. We reached out to East Lampeter Township police for more information about the crash, but no one has returned our calls.
